SATISH GUJRALarrow

Born in 1925, Lahore. Studied Applied Arts from Mayo School of Art,1939. In 1944, he joined Sir J. J. School of Art to study painting, Bombay. He went to Mexico with an apprenticeship scholarship with Diego Rivera (1886-1957) and David Sequeiros (1898-1974). His paintings reflects sad moments from the partition. He executed various murals including World Trade Centre, New York, 1980; The Palace of the Sultan of Muscat, 1975; Delhi High Court, 1976. He experimented with all spheres that fall under the umbrella of Graphics, Paintings, Sculpture Murals, Architecture and Plastic Art. Won several awards including National Award for Sculpture in 1972; The Order of the Crown, Belgium, 1983, for Architecture. He was honoured with `Padma Vibhushan` in 1999 by the President of India.
