Valay Shendearrow

Mumbai based Valay Shende (b.1980), trained at the Sir J.J.School of Art, Mumbai, has had solo exhibitions at Sakshi Gallery, Mumbai (2009, 2007) and Kashya Hildebrand Zurich, Switzerland (2009).

His group participations include ‘Still Moving Image’, curated by Deeksha Nath at Devi Art Foundation, New Delhi (2008); ‘New Narratives: Contemporary Art from India’, curated by Betty Seid, Zimmerli Art Museum, New Jersey (2007); ‘Indian Video Art: Between Myth and History’, curated by Johan Pijnappel, Tate Modern, London (2006); ‘Bombay: Maximum City’, Lille 3000, France (2006); ‘Xeno-Tech-Trasmediale’, New Media Festival, Berlin (2005); ‘Span’, Sakshi Gallery, Mumbai (2005); ‘Cross-Over & Re-Writes: Borders in Asia’, World Social Forum, Museum of Contemporary Art, Brazil; ‘Indian Video Art: History in Motion’, Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Japan (2004); ‘I love my India’, Total Museum, Seoul (2003); ‘Ways of Resisting 92-02', Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi (2002) and has participated in the Havana Biennale (2003).

In 2006, he was ‘Artist in Residence’ at the Open ‘Air’ program, Point Ephemere, Paris, France. He has been awarded by the K.K Hebbar Foundation (2004) and the All India Fine Art & Craft Society, Mumbai (2002).
