BIRLA ACADEMY OF ART AND CULTURE
Birla Academy of Art and Culture is happy to announce its 58th Annual celebrations starting on 9th January 2025. Since its inception in 1967, a large part of the Academy’s programming has focused on promoting young and emerging artists. Every year a huge number of selected applicants from across the country participate in the Birla Annual. As we look back on this journey, it fills us with great joy and deep satisfaction, in equal measure, to have worked with so many young minds over the years. Furthermore, it is also a time to deep-dive into the practices of some prominent practitioners, who have contributed greatly to the contemporary art scene through their seminal work. This year, exhibitions will include the works of 157 young artists selected for the 58th Birla Annual in the competitive section and the exhibition highlight- Nocturne, curated by Uma Ray featuring works by Adip Datta, Aditi Kulkarni, Anupam Roy, Archana Hande, Mehreen Murtaza, Prabhakar Pachpute and Soumen Mondal. As part of our anniversary celebrations, winter performances will include Purab Ang ke Rang Mein, an evening of Purab ang Thumri- Dadra and folk traditions by Vidushi Indrani Mukherjee accompanied by Pt. Parimal Chakraborty, Dr. Vinay Mishra and Sri. Sangeet Mishra; Uncharted Seas, a Kathak recital by Aditi Mangaldas, Aditi Mangaldas Dance Company and Drishtikon Dance Foundation and The Field of the Embroidered Quilt by Smt. Priti Patel and Anjika.
